The news of Robin Williams passing away hit the world pretty hard this week. It is truly amazing how much of an impact he had people’s lives. He was a great actor and a wonderful man.
A friend of mine suggested I do a portrait drawing of him. To be honest, it crossed my mind the instant I heard the news, but the Internet really turned his passing into something gaudy. Facebook, Reddit, Imgur, even the news really just jumped on the train and really put a bad taste in my mouth. ABC even had a helicopter over his home to show a live feed.
After some consideration, I decided to do it out of respect. Honestly, I really hope his daughter, Zelda, sees this. She is one of the reasons I decided to follow through with this piece. It is for her more than anybody.
This illustration took me about 1 hour and 45 minutes to do. I am super happy with the results. This whole project was enjoyable and I hope Zelda gets to see it.
Robin, we will miss you greatly. See you in Neverland.
